Volunteering in a time of COVID-19

As we start to learn to live with COVID-19 we’ve realised that life must go in, albeit in a very different way. What life looks like on the other side of the pandemic and when that may be, nobody knows, but we believe that community organisations like Sharing Shed will be more important than ever. That’s why we’re ensuring that Sharing Shed Melbourne becomes a reality for our community in the not-so-distant future.

While we haven’t been able to meet in person since March, that hasn’t slowed our progress or our connectivity as a group. We still meet weekly via Zoom and discuss the latest developments, review actions from the previous week and plan for the future. If anything, our communications and operations have become better and more effective. We’re sure many of you can relate, with video calls becoming the new norm for connecting with friends and family.

But most importantly (especially during a time of isolation) it has given us an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about sustainability, whilst contributing to a greater good for our community.

We are always looking for new volunteers and need assistance with a broad range of areas such as legal, governance, policy development, secretarial duties, graphic design and general all-rounders as well. If you are interested in joining we’d love to hear from you - please register on timecounts or feel free to email us at anytime at
